COLFAX, La. (AP) — Property tax bills are being mailed later than usual this year in Grant Parish.

The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/TWQ8Es ) the delay was required because a property tax proposal appeared on the Nov. 6 ballot.

The Grant Parish Sheriff's Office says the tax — which was approved by voters — had to be added to the tax roll and approved by the state legislative auditor, and then submitted to the Louisiana Tax Commission. The process resulted in tax notification letters going out somewhat later than usual.
