Louisiana's Tax Free Shopping Program is a win-win according to a recent study conducted by the University of New Orleans.

The program, which refunds international visitors some of the sales tax they spent while visiting Louisiana, was responsible for over 73-million-dollars in spending during the fiscal year ending in June.  Of that, the state still managed to collect about two-point-seven-million-dollars in sales and taxes which do not qualify for the tax-free program.  Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne says the study shows the program indicates the limited resources invested in the program are, quote, "paying off exponentially."
