Update – Teenager Identified In Deadly Interstate 10 Crash In Lafayette Parish

13-year-old Abigail Vasquez of Breaux Bridge has died from a crash Wednesday morning that caused a huge traffic buildup on I-10 near mile marker 102, west of University Avenue.

Lafayette Police say the teenager was a passenger in a Pontiac sedan that was traveling westbound on the interstate when a Ford truck going eastbound, for unknown reasons, crossed over the median and hit the car. The driver of the Ford truck, as well as the driver and another passenger suffered moderate to serious injuries.

The crash happened around 7:22 a.m. Police ended up diverting westbound traffic until the scene was cleared.

Authorities continue to investigate.
