Texas Man Convicted In Lafayette Child Predator Case

67-year-old Elton Ray Jones of Zavalla, Texas, has been found guilty of trying to get a minor to have sex with him in Lafayette.

According to court documents, Jones made contact and conducted online chats with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl from September 11, 2012, to October 17, 2012. But the girl was an undercover police officer, and after explicit conversations and a planned sexual encounter, Jones was arrested in Lafayette, where he planned to meet the girl on October 17, 2012.

Jones faces 10 years to life in prison, five years to life of probation and a $250,000.00 fine for one count of attempting to entice a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity and must also register as a sex offender.
