The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team found out that they would play a doubleheader almost immediately after game one of the series last night. The Cajuns would look to Jack Burk to go out and continue what he has been doing all season and for the offense to help him out and they did as the Cajuns held on to defeat Appalachian Sate 5-4 and they defeated the Mountaineers 6-2 in game 2 as the get a series sweep and win their 5th game in a row for the first time this season.

The Cajuns baseball team got off to a hot start in game 1 of the doubleheader as they scored 4 runs off of two 2-out 2 RBI doubles in the top of the 2nd. The Cajuns would score again in the top of the 4th on a Daniel Lahare RBI single and that's all that the Cajuns would need offensively. Jack Burk would sit in his rocking chair until the 7th inning when the Mountaineers got a hold of him.

The Mountaineers would lead off the bottom of the 7th with a double and an RBI single before adding 2 more hits and scoring a total of 3 runs in the inning. Michael Leaumont would come in to pitch for the Cajuns and set the Mountaineers down in order in the 8th and the Mountaineers would score one off of Nick Lee before Lee would get a strikeout to secure the win in game 1.

Game 2 of the double header started off just like game 1 as the Cajuns got an early lead, this time scoring in the 1st inning. The Cajuns would get the two runs off of an error and an RBI single by Kennon Fontenot. The hit parade would continue for the Cajuns in the top of the 2nd as they got back to back home runs. Daniel Lahare would hit a 2 run shot and then Gavin Bourgeois would hit a solo shot to increase the Cajuns lead to 5-0.

The Mountaineers would threaten with a couple runners on base but Hogan Harris would get a strikeout to end the threat in the bottom of the 2nd. The Mountaineers would try to threaten again in the bottom of the 3rd after a hit by pitch and a single but the Cajuns  defense would get a long fly out and they would turn their 27th double play of the year to end the threat.

Hogan Harris would then retire 11 straight until the 7th inning when he gave up a lead off single. The Mountaineers would battle back in the bottom of the 8th and would get 2 runs on an RBI single to make the Cajuns lead 6-2 but the Cajuns would finish them off to get the sweep.

The Cajuns will return home for 4 games as they host Louisiana Tech in the lone midweek game Wednesday evening at 6 pm and then they return to Sun Belt play next weekend when they host Little Rock for a 3 game series.
