The Case Of Tony The Tiger Goes To Louisiana Supreme Court
The Saga of Tony The Tiger continues. The owner of Tiger truck stop in Grosse Tete has asked the Louisiana Supreme Court to let him keep a the 12-year-old Bengal-Siberian tiger mix. Baton Rouge Attorney Joan Treadway Morris filed the writ Tuesday on behalf of Michael Sandlin and Tiger Truck Stop Inc. in Grosse Tete, about 20 miles west of Baton Rouge.
The state 1st Circuit Court of Appeal ruled in April that Sandlin's permit to keep Tony was invalid because he is not Tony's legal owner. Animal rights groups have been trying to get the tiger removed from the truck stop for more than five years.
