The Iberia Parish Council Begins Investigation Of Parish President

A new investigation in Parish President Errol Romero is underway by the Iberia Parish Council. The investigation is in light of a dispute between Romero and District Attorney Phil Haney. The council voted on Wednesday and ,with a final vote of 8-3, passed a resolution to being looking into the matter .

The issue originates with whether Romero might have wrongly accused Haney's office of illegal activities.

Some of the other issues at hand are complaints made by Romero about the parish government paying the health insurance premiums for the District Attorney's Office and voter coercion by the D.A.'s office and staff as well.

Council Chairman Bernard Broussard is asking that the council submit names of those who need to be subpoenaed for the investigation.

The Attorney General's Office cleared Haney and his staff of all wrongdoing.
