As someone who has been on the "house hunt" for the last couple of years, I can tell you that I've been forced to learn more than I planned to learn about the housing market in Acadiana.

Amongst those things include: 1) Prices are pretty strong 2) What slumping economy?

Don't believe me? Get to shopping.

In all seriousness, I think that our strong housing market is a great thing for the Acadiana area.

Now, in my searches on the many great local real estate websites, I kind of try to stay within my price range. But every now and again I like to check out how the higher tax brackets live.

And that led me to searching for the most expensive house on the market right now in Acadiana.

It's a beautiful, 4-bedroom, 4 1/2 bath, 8,628 square foot French home on Moss Street in Lafayette near Farm d'Allie Golf Club. The gated estate built in 2003 also sits on over 23 acres!

Every bedroom is a suite with breathtaking views. It has a pool, hot tub, wine room, game room and much more.

You get the idea, it's immaculate!

The price tag? A cool $3,999,000.
