President Obama is set to give his speech to the nation tonight in front of Congress.  In it, he has promised his vaunted jobs plan that he said was so good that we needed to wait until today just to hear it.

The interesting thing about this is that part of the plan have leaked out enough to show us what this really is.  The bottom line on this plan is that the President wants to spend more money that we don't have on things that we don't need.  While it is noble that the President is talking about additional road repairs and shoring up school buildings, that is something that we don't have the money for and really, this is the area that should be taken care of in local areas rather than by a federal government that is too big and spends too much.

The President is also expected to talk about how we can afford to pay for the $300 billion plan that he is proposing.  He will use the words "increased revenues."  What that means is higher taxes.  He'll talk about tax cuts for the middle class, but then he'll talk about the rich "paying their fair share."  That's what it all means to you.

Given also that the President knows he has a clock ticking until people tune away to see NFL, he doesn't have much time to share any details.  He is in between a rock and a hard place with this speech and when you get in a place like that, a "splat" usually follows.
