A new group of whooping cranes was delivered to the White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area in Gueydan. 16 of the cranes were flown in. So far, out of the 10 released, only 3 have survived and are being tracked. Two were killed by predators, one was euthanized due to illness, two are unaccounted for and two were killed by hunters. Scientists are working diligently to save the endangered species.
