A 16-year-old juvenile and 46-year-old Douglas Zaunbrecher have been arrested in two theft cases, in St. Landry and St. Martin Parishes, respectively.

First, in St. Landry Parish, Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena says they recovered a 40 foot goose neck trailer and an excavator that was reported stolen out of Lafayette Parish within the last 2 months. The complainant told investigators that when he arrived at an address on Flagstation Road to look at a trailer that was on Craigslist, he noticed a scratched VIN number then alerted them. The 16-year-old juvenile, who had an electronic ankle bracelet after being arrested three weeks ago for multiple burglary charges within St. Landry Parish, has been arrested and charged in the case. Captain Vizena says the Lafayette Sheriff's Office and Lafayette Police Department will take over the investigation.

In St. Martin Parish, Spokesperson Major Ginny Higgins says they got a theft complaint on June 2nd, involving a Kobota RTV and a trailer from Sammy Broussard Equipment Center in Breaux Bridge. Major Higgins says they were able to catch a suspect, Douglas Zaunbrecher of Lake Charles, based on evidence that was left behind at the scene. He's been booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail on two counts of Theft over $1,500.00, one count of Criminal Trespassing and one count of Criminal Damage to Property and is currently awaiting extradition back to St. Martin Parish. His bond has been set at $125,000.
