Well, I only had the opportunity to see one film this week, and it happened to be a big one. The only one that most people really wanted to see, and that’s Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2. This is my take on this monumental film. Remember that this series has been around for 10 years and it finally took it’s final bow.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Cinematography 5/5

Well, it’s a given that the Harry Potter films have always had really great cinematography, and this one does not disappoint. The CGI is well done and looks realistic. The lighting is always appropriate. A few shots really wowed me. I really think it earned it’s 5.

Acting 4/5

Well, pretty much every actor pulls their weight in the film. I did notice that Radcliffe still has some forced stutter moments where it seems unnatural, but other than that everyone does a great job.

Writing 5/5

Very well written. Considering the darkness of this film in comparison to the other films, the lack of humor was very appropriate. But, when some of the humor did manage to squeeze it’s way in, it was well done. The lines all seemed natural and not forced at all.

Editing 4/5

Some scenes did have a little but of a shaky camera syndrome issue, but didn’t make it unbearable. I just have such a disapproval of the SCS that I refuse to give it a perfect score.

Story 5/5

Can’t really go wrong in this sense. Sure, they had to edit down a seriously long book in order to make the film an appropriate length, but the writers did a great job in that department. I have a great deal of respect for the writers of this film for managing to NOT piss off all of the fans of the books. Sure, some of the fans of the books are a bit disappointed that certain scenes may not have made the cut, but mostly everyone is satisfied.

Sound 5/5

They really did a lot with the score in this film. It wasn’t that same “Harry Potter” chord that you hear in every film. They changed it up a lot. Something that I noticed a few times throughout the film was silence. I thought that this gave the film such an suspenseful feeling. The quiet nature of the entire film until the climaxes was incredible.

Closing Comments 28/30

What a way to end it all! The writers did a fantastic job wrapping things up properly, and it is sad to see such a great series of films come to an end. It really pulled at my heart strings when the final scene ended the movie and it was Harry, Ron and Hermione together. I’ve been enjoying this series for 10 years and it really is a heartfelt experience to see it all end.
