I recently took my grandson, Nathan to see "The Peanuts Movie." I enjoyed it as much as he did. He expressed surprise when an "older" couple entered the theater with no children in tow. I explained that "Peanuts" had been popular since I was a small boy. "A charlie Brown Christmas" just celebrated 50 years. Would you believe network executives didn't like it, and Linus' touching monologue about the true meaning of Christmas was nearly cut?? CNN reports, CBS executives grudgingly agreed, at the original screening in 1965, to air it one time only. One of the animators (Who'd reportedly been imbibing) stood up in the back of the room, and yelled "It's going to run for a hundred years!" Then, he collapsed.
