NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Close to 7,000 teachers are expected to attend a three-day gathering in New Orleans dedicated to professional development.

The Louisiana Department of Education's sixth annual Louisiana Teacher Leader Summit begins Wednesday at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Teachers from every school system in the state will attend. The department says State Superintendent of Education John White will deliver the keynote address. He also will announce the 2019 finalists for Teacher and Principal of the Year.
