Three Candidates In 5th District Jump Out To Early Lead Over McAllister Ahead Of Official Qualifying

That's at least how much money Monroe businessman Harris Brown, "Duck Dynasty" cousin Zach Dasher and Richland Parish physician Dr. Ralph Abraham reportedly have in their campaign accounts in the race to unseat incumbent Vance McAllister, according to Louisiana Radio Network. He only has $4,800.00 in his warchest. But the slow start to the fundraising doesn't surprise ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley.

"A lot of it has to do with Representative McAllister's uncertainty regarding whether he would run for re-election or not," Stockley said.

Official qualifying will happen August 20th through August 22nd. That's when Stockley expects the fundraising totals to pick up.

"When the field has been set, donors will have a good sense of the lay of the land," Stockley said.
