Three Dead In Lake Charles Helicopter Crash

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPEL) -- Three people are dead following a helicopter crash near the Calcasieu Parish and Cameron Parish line, just southeast of Lake Charles Regional Airport.

A spokesperson for the company that owns the helicopter, Era Helicopters, said crews were on the way to the crash site to assess the damage.

According to our news partners at KATC TV-3, the helicopter caught on fire, and all three people aboard the aircraft died in the crash.

The crash happened just before noon. Investigators from the FAA are on the scene.
