Thursday Morning Bank Robbery In New Iberia

Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office are currently investigating a robbery that occurred in New Iberia this morning. Sheriff Louis Ackal reports that at roughly 9:45 AM, Iberia Parish Sheriff deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Iberia Bank located at 142 W. St. Peter Street.

A black male wearing a navy hooded jacket/sweatshirt and sunglasses entered the bank, wielding a handgun and demanding money from an employee.  The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.  Deputies and detectives searched the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.
