Agents with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Narcotics Unit arrested a New Iberia man for allegedly selling drugs at an apartment complex in Abbeville.

Tuesday, agents went to an apartment complex on Martin Luther King Drive after they received information that someone was selling drugs right in the breezeway of the complex.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Lester Collins for allegedly selling drugs from that spot.

Collins is facing charges of:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute synthetic marijuana
  • Possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Transactions involving drug proceeds
  • Possession of a gun with a obliterated serial number

Agents state that when they were walking over towards Collins, he tried walking away.

They stopped and interviewed him which lead to his arrest.

They found a handgun, a large amount of synthetic marijuana, crack and suspected drug proceeds on Collins.
