St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says that tips to the Crime Stoppers line have lead to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect.

Police had an arrest warrant out for Joseph Eskine, and once the information was placed on Facebook and talked about on KPEL, three tips came in about Eskine's whereabouts.

He was arrested for the armed robbery of Cormier's Country Store on January 1 of this year.

Sheriff Guidroz says

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the tipsters of Crime Stoppers for coming forward with information on Eskine’s whereabouts. Working together through Crime Stoppers, law enforcement, news media outlets and of course the tippers, an armed robbery suspect was taken off the streets.”

Two other men, Joshua Vallot and Blake Boudreaux, had already been arrested in the case, but Cankton Police and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office had been looking for Eskine.  Those tips lead them to Eskine.

Detectives called the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office with the tip information, and they were able to arrest Eskine without incident. Eskine is currently at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for processing and will later be transferred to the St. Landry Parish Jail for booking.

Anyone wishing to anonymous give a tip about crime, and possibly receive money for doing so, can call St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers at 948-TIPS.
