Tombs Too Colorful For Some In Terrebonne Parish
A Terrebonne Parish councilman says he'll introduce a new ordinance in response to complaints about brightly colored tombs and grave markers at a public cemetery.
Among the mostly white and gray slabs of concrete at Southdown Cemetery are a handful that are painted in a variety of splashy colors — pink, red, green, blue and yellow.
Councilman Alvin Tillman thinks that the bright colors are wrong for a cemetery. His proposed ordinance requiring that tombs be painted white would apply to three cemeteries in the parish.
