Tony Dungy Speaks On Protests During The National Anthem [VIDEO]
Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy weighed in on the National Anthem and the NFL players that choose to protest it.
Some NFL players have chose to sit or kneel during the National Anthem after Colin Kaepernick started a movement during the preseason. As far as why he decided to protest, Kaepernick stated,
I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,
Many have debated Kaepernick's decision—both on and off the field—but last night on NBC's Football Night In America, Tony Dungy talked about his views on the subject of players choosing to sit or stand during the national anthem.
He also shared his personal experiences with the anthem, revealing that he didn't stand at one point in his life, as well as words of wisdom from his late father, who served in the U.S. military during World War II.
I agree with an NBC article that said it may be the "most reasoned, balanced, and common-sense explanation regarding efforts to protest the anthem."
Here's to helping the situation for a better America.
