In this edition of "Not Necessarily The News," Tootie Landry decides to pay a visit to her Alma Mater, Erath High School, to see why they are ranked the #1 public high school in Louisiana for the 2nd year in a row.

"Hey! I’m Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! I couldn’t help but notice my Alma Mater, Erath High School, has been ranked the #1 public high school in the state for the 2nd year in a row! Being a former Bobcat myself, I wondered why we were never ranked #1. If only they measured a school’s success by the amount of creative pranks!

Anyway, I decided to take a ride down Highway 339 to see what is going on down there. This Big Blue Nation of 535 students is getting motivated in creative ways!

I started by talking to the Principal, Jed Hebert. Of course, we met in his office. This is a first, I’m in the Principal’s office and I’m not even in trouble! Mr. Hebert explained all the incentives the students have to learn. Like, Friday Fun Day! What?! Snow cones, ice cream, candy, and boudin.. yes boudin are sold at the school! This is so much better than buying a tootsie roll in a candy machine!

I then moved on to the library and spoke with the librarian, Mrs. Shiner. Of course, like most schools the library was full of computers, but this one even had a coffee shop! I know I can pass Algebra 2 with a double mocha latte!

Even the electives are different today, guitar lessons?! Piano lessons?! This is a far cry from my sewing class in home economics.

And finally, I couldn’t help but notice a sign in Mr. Hebert’s office that said, “Don’t count the days, make the days count!” And they are doing just that at Erath High.

And I’m Tootie Landry and this is “Not Necessarily the News!”
