Tootie Goes Down To The Whiskey River – Not Necessarily The News

In this edition of "Not Necessarily The News," Tootie Landry gets to experience some old school, high energy dancing when she goes down to the Whiskey River.

"Hey! I’m Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! Dancing is definitely a favorite pastime in South Louisiana. So, this Sunday I decided to check out a local dance hall. No, not really… my friend Charlene dragged me kicking and screaming to Whiskey River!

Only in Acadiana would it be normal to drive on a levee, park your car upside down (like a space shuttle) to get to a boat launch to dance!

After arriving at the hall we were first greeted by “Pops!” An 81-year-old who had more moves than Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing! I’m WAY out of my league here! This is old school, high energy dancing.

As I’m looking around, I can’t help but notice the Christmas lights hanging throughout the hall. Did I just miss Christmas? Or is it time to make a list?

Jamie Bergeron has everyone rocking! Young and old, they came for one thing—to dance! I don’t know how they do this? I’m having trouble just keeping my balance on this uneven floor.

And finally, after a long day at the levee, I decided to go home to Fais Do-Do!
