With the Ragin' Cajun softball team getting ready to host an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2002, Tootie Landry thought she would see if she could lend a helping hand in this edition of "Not Necessarily The News."

"Hey! I’m Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! There’s excitement in the air! The U.L. Lady Cajuns Softball Team is hosting the NCAA Regionals this weekend. So, I thought I’d head out to the ballpark to see if they could use my help! After all, I played softball one time in my P.E. class in high school! So I put on my cleats, oiled my glove, and grabbed my Copenhagen and Dixie Cup!

Upon arriving, I couldn’t help but feel like I had taken a wrong turn and was in Minute Maid Park. At this point, I’m still hoping Coach Lotief may need me!

I immediately noticed there were fans in the stadium just waiting to watch the Lady Cajuns PRACTICE! Am I in over my head? A lot may be expected of me.

I’m watching girls like Ashlie, Sarah, Nerissa and Christi taking batting practice and thinking… these girls are serious about winning! It’s all business here! No one’s even talking. That could be a problem for me!

Just yesterday, they practiced from 10 to 12, lifted weights from 1:30 to 2:30, watched a film until 4:00 (and it wasn’t even the movie A League of Their Own), batting practice until 5:45, and had a scrimmage to wrap up the day! (SIGH) I’m tired just reporting this!

And finally, after Coach wouldn’t put me in, I grabbed my cleats, pitched my Copenhagen, and headed to the Box Office to buy my tickets for the games this weekend! And I’m Tootie Landry and this is “Not Necessarily the News!”
