Tootie Visits A Local Diner – Not Necessarily The News
Tootie Landry decides to stop by a diner here in Lafayette in this edition of "Not Necessarily The News."
Hey! I’m Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! Just yesterday I was driving around Lafayette and I couldn’t help but notice all the cars in the parking lots at every restaurant. This got me thinking about one special place in town, so I decided to head over there for lunch. Even though they are open 7 days a week, as usual there’s a line outside the door. So many people, young and old waiting in line, I’m thinking… I got to get in!
This establishment has been around since 1983! You probably won’t find Anthony Bourdain from the Travel Channel there, but you will find Calvin at Table #1. When I asked him what’s the attraction to eating here, he replied, “The portions are generous, always a variety, and of course it’s so delicious!” With the smell of smothered turkey and rice and gravy in the air, I headed to the kitchen to find Ms. Rita and Ms. Laura. They wore a smile on their faces and I just knew all their recipes were in their heads. The service was excellent as the adequate staff of 15 people moved everyone in and out in a timely fashion.
And finally, I have a different perspective today as I drive past restaurants with full parking lots after having lunch at… St. Joseph’s Diner. And I’m Tootie Landry and this is “Not Necessarily the News!”
