Officials at United Blood Services in Lafayette report that the recent 'Race Against the Clock Blood Drive' was very successful.

Mitzi Breaux, Donor Recruitment Supervisor, says their group was able to draw 674 pints of blood for and from the community.

Breaux says donated blood is life-saving for many in Acadiana and the surrounding areas.  She adds that with every pint donated, three lives can be saved.

She says, in all, some 2,022 lives will be touched by the outstanding support the community gave during the "24 hours of draw time'.

Breaux says with so many people coming out to give blood, it is certainly the largest contribution of blood products to local hospitals in Acadiana.  She says everyone at UBS is thankful to those who donate blood.

If you would like to donate, please contact United Blood Services at 337-235-5433.  You can drop by at 1503 Bertrand Dr, Lafayette, LA or check them out at unitedbloodservices.org.
