JENNINGS, La. (AP) — A trial date has been set for two Jennings men accused of fatally shooting another man on New Year's Eve 2013 and dumping his body on the side of a road.

District Attorney Michael Cassidy tells the American Press (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) 22-year-old Keagon Drew Reon and 23-year-old Jules Patrick Batiste are scheduled to stand trial June 22.

Cassidy says Reon pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in the slaying of 21-year-old Ruston Reed, of Jennings.

Cassidy says Batiste pleaded not guilty to obstruction of justice for his part in tampering with evidence, including moving the body and destroying clothing.

Reed died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

A motive for the slaying has not been released by police.
