LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — A date has been set for the second-degree murder trial of Darlene Sias, who is accused of killing her husband, 62-year-old Joseph Sias, in December 2011.

The American Press reports Wednesday the 52-year-old Sias will stand trial April 2.

According to court records, prosecutors declined a plea deal because of the severity of the charges.

Authorities in 2011 said the death was related to a domestic dispute.

Sias is being held at Calcasieu Correctional Center on $1 million bond.
