Trooper Stephen Hammons, Public Information Officer for State Police Troop I visited 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today and discussed the recent motorcycle/road rage incident that occurred in New York and was captured on video.

We asked Trooper Hammons what a motorist should do in case he or she is involved in an incident like the one captured in the aforementioned video Hammons replied,

In the event you witness someone driving erratically or breaking the law you should call *LSP if however you are threatened or attacked by another driver you should call 9-1-1 instead.

According to Hammons a quicker response from law enforcement would come by calling 9-1-1,

Things change when threats or signs or guns being displayed occur.  You should call 9-1-1 immediately...If your life or the lives of family members are at stake you do whatever you have to do to remove yourself from that situation but do not become the aggressor.

A call from an audience member questioning response time by police to a 9-1-1 event led Trooper Hammons to say,

The nature of the 9-1-1 call may determine the response time of law enforcement...When peoples lives are a stake we need to get as many local law enforcement agencies on scene as quickly as possible.
