There is a saying that is painted above a doorway at Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge Tennessee that reads " If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain." I guess that can apply to plot lines in television shows too.

If you want to have a hero, you have to have a bad guy or a bad girl in some cases. The people at Rolling Stone Magazine have compiled what they believe to be the Top 40 Villains in TV. There are a lot of characters I loved to loath on the list.  Among those are J.R. Ewing of TV's Dallas, Montgomery Burns of The Simpsons, and the curvaceous kitty cutie known as Catwoman who made Batman's life more difficult than it really should have been.

Oddly enough none of these n'er do wells even made the top five according to Rolling Stone. Their best of the worst include :

#5 Bob from Twin Peaks ( The TV show not the restaurant)

#4 Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones

#3  Livia Soprano from The Sopranos

#2 Marlo Stanfield from The Wire

#1 Ben Linus from Lost

Where did your favorite fiend wind up on the list? I am sure you've got some villains you'd like to include and we'd love to hear about them. I personally am wondering why they didn't include Jake from State Farm on the list, you know how heinous those insurance guys can be.
