Early Thursday morning a St. Mary Parish deputy attempted to stop a car being driven in the left lane of Highway 90 East of Jeanerette. The deputy saw the driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts and appeared to be throwing things from the passenger side window. The driver eventually stopped and pulled over but refused to unlock the vehicle. Deputies discovered items thrown from the vehicle included methamphetamine with a street value of $7,500, a bag of marijuana and a loaded firearm. The driver of the car, 27 year old Brian Derouen of Bayou Vista and 28 year old Theresa Trahan of Houma were charged with multiple offenses and booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail.
