Lafayette Police Identify Fatal Crash Victims

12:35 p.m. Friday, April 27: Lafayette Police have identified the driver as 43-year-old Donna "Andre" Theall of Lafayette and the passenger as 57-year-old Richard Broussard of Lafayette.

5:34 a.m. Friday, April 27: The crash occurred just after 12:30 this morning in the 2600 block of Verot School Road.  Lafayette Police say it was a single car crash.  Investigators on the scene found a 2004 gray Mercedes overturned in a parking lot.  They say the car was traveling west on Verot School road, when, for unknown reasons, it ran off of the roadway.

Police say after the car drove off of the roadway it hit a telephone pole and a business sign.  The Mercedes then stopped in the 5000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway right in the parking lot of the Chevron station at that corner.

Police say both of the people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, but they are not releasing names right now as they are still working on notifying the next of kin.  The cause of the crash is still be investigating.
