Two Education Bills: One Passes, One Fails
The Senate Budget Committee has quietly killed legislation that would limit the salaries of college system presidents and chancellors, to no more than 10% over the Southern Regional Education Board average salary.
Jeanerette Representative Simone Champagne pushed to limit education pay and says she's very disappointed in the latest development.
Meanwhile, a bill to increase tuition at colleges and universities by 10% was approved by the Joint Legislative Budget Committee. Champagne says this puts higher ed funding burdens on students instead of administrators.
