Arbor Day in Louisiana is recognized each year on the third Friday in January which is this Friday.

There are two events planned for Arbor in Lafayette. One will be held Friday and then the other event will happen Saturday.

For Friday's event, the public is invited to join the Lafayette Garden Club and Lafayette Consolidated Government as they gather to plant a memorial tree at Beaullieu Park.

Beaullieu Park is located right next to the Comeaux Recreation Center at 410 West Bluebird Drive.

Trees Acadiana will be hosting the Saturday event.

Anyone wishing to help plant trees can meet this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Brown's Park on Pont Des Mouton.

Members of Trees Acadiana will be planting trees in the new median on Pont Des Mouton Road between Moss Street and Louisiana Avenue.

Club members ask that you bring gloves, a shovel and water. If you happen to have a wheel barrow you are asked to bring that along as well.

There are 14 Tree City, USA communities in Louisiana, and Lafayette is one of them.
