Two people are dead and another severely injured following a home invasion.

Police in Ascension Parish believe a $500,000 coin collection cost the 74-year-old man and his 50-year-old step-son their lives.

Police say they found the bodies of Robert Murchand and Douglas Dooley inside the home. Police broke the door in when no one answered the door.

The older man's wife, 72 year-old Shirley Marchand, was also injured. All three of their throats had been cut.
