Just before 3 o'clock this morning, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Division made a traffic stop on Poydras Highway.

The deputies says both people in the car were acting suspicious.

One person was trying to hide a gun, they say, along with what they call a "significant amount" of marijuana along with a big amount of money.

Narcotics agents recovered high grade marijuana, a loaded pistol and $4,000 in cash.

Alfred Onezine, 27, was booked with the following charges:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)
  • Illegal Carrying of Weapons while in possession of a CDS
  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Speeding

Mennefer Sinegal, 35, was charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)
  • Illegal Carrying of Weapons while in possession of a CDS
  • Obstruction of Justice

Both were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. No bond has been set for either one at this time.
