Two Ouachita Parish Inmates Booked On Battery Charges
MONROE, La. (AP) — Two inmates of Ouachita Correctional Center are suspected of attacking another inmate.
The News-Star reports 25-year-old Darius Wheatley, of Richwood, and 31-year-old Naquita Carter, of West Monroe, were booked Tuesday on one count each of simple battery.
Deputies reportedly observed inmates crowding a cell before discovering an inmate with two large knots on his head and abrasions on his neck.
According to the arrest report, Wheatley admitted to striking the victim several times after watching Carter wrestle with the victim. Carter reportedly first denied making physical contact with the victim and then said he only shoved the victim's hands away. Another inmate reportedly confirmed that Carter had been involved in the physical altercation.
