16-year-old Britney Anne Trahan of Lake Charles has died after La. State Police say she ran a stop sign on Saturday night.

Master Trooper Daniel “Scott” Moreau says the crash happened around 7 p.m. on US Hwy. 90 at Boy’s Village Road. Moreau says Trahan was driving her Toyota northbound on Boy’s Village Road when she failed to yield at a stop sign before entering US Hwy. 90. That’s when she collided with a Ford pickup truck, driven by 52-year-old Sharlene Ann Parsley-Istre of Jennings, that was heading eastbound on US Hwy. 90.

Trahan’s injuries were fatal; Parsley-Istre’s injuries were minor.

La. State Police continue to investigate as routine toxicology tests are pending.
