The second-ranked Louisiana Ragin Cajun baseball team returns to the diamond on Friday night, as coach Tony Robichaux’s squad travels to Troy, Alabama to take on the Troy Trojans, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, league series.

Game times are scheduled for 6 pm Friday, 3 pm on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday. Catch all the games on the radio, as they can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM & kpel965.com.

Louisiana (27-3, 8-1) has won 27 of their last 29 games, including winning two of three games in a Sun Belt Conference series against the WKU Hilltoppers last weekend, and a non-conference win over the Tulane Green Wave on Tuesday night.

Troy (16-13, 4-4) won a non-conference game against the UAB Blazers (7-2) this week, after falling in two of three games to the Georgia St. Panthers last weekend.

The Cajuns are hitting .319 as a team, which places them first in the league going into the series, to go along with 36 home runs, 225 runs batted in, and 49 stolen bases, which all lead the conference.

Second baseman Jace Conrad (.364-6-35) leads the Cajuns in hitting and runs batted in, with outfielders Caleb Adams (.356-4-19) and Seth Harrison (.354-7-29) right behind

The Trojans are currently hitting a .270, which ranks sixth in the league, with 25 homers, 149 RBI’s, and 37 stolen bases.

Outfielder David Hall paces Troy, hitting a .357, with five homers and 18 RBI’s.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana ranks first in the league, with a 2.88 team ERA., while Troy ranks fourth, at a 3.72.

The Cajuns feature Carson Baranik (6-0, 2.28) and Austin Robichaux (4-2, 2.82), who rank second and sixth in the league, respectively, in terms of ERA. Robichaux will get the start on Friday night, with Baranik getting the call on Saturday, while Cody Boutte (3-0, 4.61) gets the Sunday start.

The Trojans, will counter with right-hander Tanner Hicks (2-4, 3.35) on Friday, left-hander Shane McCain (3-2, 1.93), who leads the conference in ERA., on Saturday, and left-hander Ben Tidwell (0-0, 3.42) on Sunday.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 20-12.
