The Tampa Bay Rays selected Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun junior second baseman Jace Conrad in the 13th round, with pick number 397, on the third day of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Saturday.

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and a product of Lafayette High School, Conrad is hitting a .377 as a junior in 2014, along with nine home runs, a team-leading 65 runs batted in, and 22 stolen bases, which also leads the team.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Conrad hit a .286 in 2013, his second as a Cajun, to go along with four homers, 36 RBI’s, and 22 steals, after hitting a .286 with one homer and 17 RBI's as a freshman in 2012.
