UL sophomore pitcher Jordan Wallace

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team stayed unbeaten in the Baton Rouge NCAA Regional, after blanking the host school, and the regional top-seed, LSU Tigers, 3-0, at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge.

Louisiana struck first, in the top half of the opening inning, when Nerissa Myers walked, and then Brianna Cherry followed with a long, two-run home run, giving them a 2-0 lead.

The scored stayed that way until the top of the seventh inning, when Sara Corbello belted a solo homer over the left field fence, giving the Cajuns an insurance run, and the eventual 3-0 win.

It was the second-consecutive 3-0 win in the regional for Louisiana, who defeated Northwestern St. by the same score on Friday, and improved their record at the new Tiger Park to 5-0.

Jordan Wallace (30-7) was exceptional in the circle for the second-straight day. The sophomore right-hander allowed only two hits, and one walk, while striking out 11, becoming the fifth UL pitcher to ever reach the 30-win plateau in a single season.

Prior to the seventh inning, only one LSU base runner reached second base

Rachele Fico (24-12) was the tough luck loser for LSU, allowing only the two hits, which were both homers, while walking two, and striking out seven.

With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 45-13, while the Tigers slipped to 41-15.

Louisiana moves into Championship Sunday undefeated, which means they would have to be defeated twice on Sunday to be denied their fourth Super Regional appearance in the last six years.

The Cajuns will play at 1 o'clock on Sunday, with the if necessary game scheduled for 4 pm.
