The 9th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Friday evening, weather permitting, when they play host to the 13th-ranked Baylor Bears in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series at Lamson Park.

The contest will mark the beginning of a four-game homestand for Louisiana.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o’clock.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 pm.

The Cajuns are currently 30-5, overall, and 12-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, after sweeping a three-game conference series from Georgia St. last weekend.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .341, along with 66 home runs, 251 runs batted in, and 48 stolen bases in 58 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 285-66.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.84, compared to a 8.34 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .162 batting average against.

Baylor has won five-straight, and 15 of their last 16, and will enter the series at 29-7, overall, and 5-1 in Big XII play.

The Bears are currently hitting a .331 as a team, along with 31 homers, and 179 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 203-94.

In the circle, Baylor currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.15, while holding opponents to a .223 batting average against.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 10-6, including wins in the last three match-ups.
