The 23rd-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Thursday evening, playing host to the Lamar Cardinals in a non-conference single game at Lamson Park.

Louisiana, who has won six straight, went 5-0 in the Gulf Coast College Classic in Gulfport, Mississippi last weekend and are 14-5-1 on the season.

Tonight's game will mark the only game of the week for the Cajuns, who do not play this weekend.

Lamar, who went 2-2 in the LSU Tournament in Baton Rouge last weekend, will come into the match-up with an overall record of 3-8.

The Cajuns, currently hitting a .278 as a team, are led by freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden, who is hitting a .358 with 8 home runs and 21 RBI's.

The Cardinals, hitting a .252 as a team, are paced by junior catcher Beverly Corry, who is hitting a .429 with three homers and six runs batted in.

UL has an overall team ERA. of 3.76, compared to 4.42 for Lamar.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 17-0, but the two teams haven't met since 1987, as the Cardinals did not field a team from 1988-2012.

First-pitch is slated for 6 o'clock.
