The 20th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday afternoon, when they play host to the Texas St. Bobcats, in a doubleheader, representing the first two game of a three-game, weekend, league series.

Louisiana, who swept a conference series from Georgia St. last weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, has won seven-straight, and 14 out of 15, and is currently 22-6-1, overall, and 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Texas St., who beat Lamar, 10-1, in non-conference action on Thursday night, will come into the series at 19-15, overall, and 2-1 in league play.

Offensively, the Cajuns are currently hitting a .303 as a team, which ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference, along with 46 home runs, 169 RBI’s, and 18 stolen bases.

Louisiana is led by senior second baseman Natalie Fernandez, who leads the conference in hitting (.517) and on-base percentage (.613) and freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden, who leads the conference in both home runs (10) and RBI’s (35).

Sophomore catcher Lexie Elkins (.352-8-31) and sophomore first baseman Kelsey Vincent (.352-6-20) are also above the .300 mark.

The Bobcats are hitting a .273 as a team, which ranks fourth, along with 23 home runs, 140 RBI's, and 30 stolen bases.

Offensively, Texas St. is paced by junior third baseman Courtney Harris, who is hitting a .341 with three homers and 13 runs batted in, and senior left-fielder Timishia North, who is batting a .340 with 19 RBI’s.

Pitching-wise, Louisiana brings a an overall team ERA. of 3.33 into the series, which ranks fifth in the league. Junior right-hander Christina Hamilton is currently 11-1, with a 1.07 ERA., which is good enough for third in the league, while junior right-hander Jordan Wallace is 9-2, with a 3.67 ERA.

Texas St., who brings a combined team ERA. of 2.97 into the series, which ranks fourth, is paced by senior right-hander Rayn House, who is 16-10, with a 2.10 ERA.

First-pitch for Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 2 o'clock, with a 1 pm single game set for Sunday.
