The 7th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to play on Friday evening, when coach Michael Lotief’s squad plays host to the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference match-up at Lamson Park.

The contest, the first of a nine-game homestand for Louisiana, will mark the opening game of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series between the two squads.

The game will also mark the first of six games over a five-day timespan for the Cajuns.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o'clock.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, which is slated to begin at 1 pm.

The Cajuns are currently 17-3, overall, and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, after winning two of three game against South Alabama in a season-opening conference series last weekend in Mobile, Alabama.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .316, along with 33 home runs, 124 runs batted in, and 24 stolen bases in 31 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 143-29.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.27, compared to a 6.89 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .156 batting average against.

UT-Arlington will enter the match-up, their conference-opening series, at 14-10.

The Mavericks are currently hitting a .367 as a team, along with 21 homers, and 179 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 193-121.

In the circle, UT-Arlington currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 4.62, while holding opponents to a .327 batting average against.
