The 9th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Boone, North Carolina to take on the Appalachian St. Mountaineers in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader.

The twinbill represents the first two games of a three-game, weekend, conference series, with a single game scheduled on Sunday to wrap-up the series.

First-pitch on Saturday is scheduled for noon, with Sunday's start time slated for 11 am.

The series also marks the first three games of a season-ending nine-game road trip for Louisiana.

The Cajuns are currently 32-5, overall, and 15-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader from Baylor last weekend.

UL currently leads South Alabama by one half-game atop the Sun Belt Conference standings.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .339, along with 68 home runs, 262 runs batted in, and 48 stolen bases in 58 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 300-69.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.84, compared to a 8.44 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .165 batting average against.

Appalachian St. will enter the series with an overall record of 10-26, and a league mark of 1-17.

The Mountaineers are currently hitting a .263 as a team, along with 27 homers, and 122 RBI’s, while being out-scored by opponents, 255-135.

In the circle, Appalachian St. currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 6.41, while holding opponents to a .326 batting average against.

This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
