The 15th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday evening, playing host to the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, in non-conference play at Lamson Park.

The match-up, which will serve as the home opener for Louisiana this year, will be the first of two, single-game, home-and-home match-ups between the two squads this year, with the Cajuns returning the trip to Starkville, Mississippi on March 20.

The Cajuns are 2-1 on the season, after finishing 2-1 in the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic over the weekend, while Mississippi St. currently stands at 3-1.

Louisiana is 11-3 all time against the Bulldogs, with a five-game winning streak, including a 6-3 win last year in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.

At Lamson Park, where the the Cajuns hold a 660-104 all-time record, including a 4-2 mark against Mississippi St.

The game begin a five-game home stand for Louisiana, who plays host to Mississippi Valley St. and Texas St. in the 2013 Louisiana Classics Tournament this weekend.

First-pitch is scheduled for 6 o'clock.
