Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun softball team is ranked 6th in this week’s USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.

Louisiana is 9-0 on the young 2015 college softball season, after going 5-0 last weekend in the 2015 Mardi Gras Classic.

The Cajuns, who have out-scored the opposition, 89-1, so far this season, return to action this weekend, when they play host to the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park. UL will play twice on Friday, against Iowa (2:30 pm) and Hofstra (5 o’clock), twice more on Saturday, against Hofstra (12:30 pm) and Missouri St. (3 o’clock), and once on Sunday, McNeese St. (2:30 pm).

Getting back to the poll, the Florida Gators, at 11-0, are the top-ranked team, receiving 17 of a possible 20 first-place votes.

The 6-0 Oregon Ducks, the only other team to receive a first-place vote in the poll, with three, are in the number two spot.

In the number three position, it’s the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are 11-1 on the young season.

The Oklahoma Sooners, who are 9-1, check in at number four this week.

The Michigan Wolverines, who are 8-1 to begin the season, round out the top five.

At spots 6-10, it’s Louisiana, Baylor, Georgia, Florida St., and UCLA.

Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona, LSU, and Minnesota are in spots 11-15, while Auburn, Washington, Missouri, Arizona St. and UCF hold down spots 16-20 in the poll.

Finally, at 21-25, it’s California, South Alabama, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Texas
