Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team has released their 2017 schedule.

The season, which begins on February 10, will open with a 23-game homestand, which will include three home tournaments, along with a three-game series against Alabama, as well as a doubleheader with Baylor.

In all, Louisiana is scheduled to play 36 games at Lamson Park in 2017.

The Cajuns, who won't play on the road until their conference opener on March 11, against Appalachian St., will also travel to College Station, Texas on April 19, to square off with Texas A&M.

The season-opening event, the 31st Annual Louisiana Classics, set for February 10-12, will feature Louisiana, DePaul, Iowa St., Ball St., and Southern Miss.

After the big three-game set with Alabama, February 17-19, the Cajuns will host the Mardi Gras Classic, February 23-26, which also will feature Drake, Bowling Green, Dartmouth, Maryland Bradley, and Mississippi Valley St.

The final in-season tournament that the Cajuns will participate in will be the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational, March 3-5, which will include a field of Louisiana, Alcorn St. North Dakota St., and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The 23-game season-opening homestand will conclude with a doubleheader against Baylor on March 7.

Louisiana will host conference series' in 2017 against UT-Arlington, Troy, Georgia St., and Coastal Carolina, while traveling to Appalachian St., South Alabama, Georgia Southern, Texas St., and ULM.

The 2017 Sun Belt Conference postseason tournament will be held in Troy, Alabama, May 10-13.

Louisiana has won three straight Sun Belt Conference championships and 14 overall in the 16 years of league competition since 2001. The program has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 18 consecutive years and 26 times overall in the past 27 years dating back to 1990. Last season, the Ragin’ Cajuns hosted an NCAA Regional at Lamson Park for the fourth time in the past five years (2012, 2014-16) and advanced to an NCAA Super Regional for the fifth straight year (2012-16).

The Cajuns, who went 46-9 last season, return 26 players, including All-Sun Belt Conference selections Hayley Hayden, Aleah Craighton, and DJ Sanders and pitchers Alex Stewart, Kylee Jo Trahan, Macey Smith, and Victoria Brown, who ranked in the top 10 nationally in ERA last season.

Louisiana also welcomes nine newcomers to the roster, including Kansas transfer Daniella Chavez, the 2015 Big 12 co-Freshman of the Year, along with a freshman class of eight that includes four pitchers and Kourtney Gremillion, the younger sister of sophomore third baseman Kara Gremillion.
