The 20th-ranked Louisiana  Ragin' Cajun softball team swept a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader from the Georgia St. Panthers on Saturday, winning the first game, 8-3, before taking the nightcap, 4-2, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The two games were the first conference games of the year fir both teams.

In the opener, Natalie Fernandez and Lexie Elkins each collected two hits, while Kelsey Vincent homered, as Louisiana out-hit Georgia St., 10-4, to secure the five-run win.

Christina Hamilton (10-1) was the winning pitcher, tossing 6.1 two-hit shutout innings, while Erin Milton (3-3) was tabbed with the loss.

In the second game, Fernandez was at it again, going 3-for-3, while Samantha Walsh homered, as the Cajuns out-hut the Panthers, 5-4, en route to the two-run victory.

Jordan Wallace (9-2) picked up the win, with Hamilton recording her second save of the year, while Katie Worley (0-2) suffered the loss.

With the two wins, Louisiana improved to 21-6-1, overall, and 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Georgia St. fell to 13-15, overall, and 0-2 in league play.

The series finale is scheduled for Sunday, at 11 am (cdt).
